boobs and pepper spray, bring on the google hits
so apparently ska shows are no longer the cute little all-ages-appropriate safe zones that i used to believe them to be.

it's been a steady progression over the last few shows that have led me to this conclusion.

it started out with boobs. not all that dangerous, i suppose in the great scheme of dangerous things, but very much more rock-n-roll than ska shows normally get. at the toasters' show in february, i am busy ogling the hottie with the "in lust we trust" tattoo across her shoulder-blades when i turn around in time to see a couple chicks completely strip their tops off. yes, they had duct tape crosses placed strategically in the nipple area, but as time and alcohol wore on, even those shifted. wow.

so i assumed it was an anomally. apparently i was wrong, bc at the next show, the magnificent 7 in shawnee (shaw-effin-nee!), the guys got some full on duct-tape-free flashes. lucky bastards.

so vzd's, friday night, no boobs, but how rock-n-roll is it to have a complete meth-head BARK at you from five feet away mere seconds before he smashes his glass to the floor and gets pepper-sprayed by the security guard, chased into the parking lot and ultimately arrested? pretty damned rock-n-roll in my little middle-class experience.

then it was back to the boobs on saturday night in stillwater. where a chippie celebrating her 21st birthday jumped on stage several times, first flashing her polka-dot panties, and finally getting down to business and giving 'em the twins. she ends the night in the middle of the dance floor with her top completely off ... the cops chose that moment to arrest the poor thing for public intox...

i'm telling you, guys, you've been going to punk shows, phish shows, who knows what else trying to get some of this action. but apparently, ska makes 'em crazy. i can't make this stuff up.
