the starkweather boys
ok so i've been meaning to post this since it happened, but alas, i've been working at work. as opposed to my usual emailing, surfing the internet, posting on diaryland. anyway, a couple weekends ago i had the chance to see the starkweather boys at opolis. i had seen some members of the band in their previous iteration, the poison okies. my pal rockabilly dave (whose blog link i can't seem to find right now) is one of them. anyways, i thought dave and the rest were pretty great as poison okies. i mean, the music was great, and i had a very good time at the show, fun to watch.

but ...

the starkweather boys? rock and fucking roll. i am crapping you negative. i mean, i was BLOWN AWAY from the very first song. their sound is incredibly full, tight ... but i think the most shocking thing was dave's ... transformation, i guess. in his other band, he was more of a sometime singer. now he's out front and his voice has grown a thousand fold. he's not a big guy, but the voice that comes outta him belongs on a guy about 6'2", 250 lbs or so. i know when i told him all this at the show he just thought i was being nice, so here, in public, for all to see, i'm telling you that you

have

to see them. you must. (how about august 6 at the deli?) there is no other option. tell dave i sent ya.
