it is pissing down snow. i stared out the window at it as i ate lunch and read the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy for the fortieth time. they closed saxon, which is just right across the street. but since we have class in session we are now considered "essential" personnel. dammit. it's at times like this that the whole working-for-the-gumment thing has it's drawbacks.

however, if i wasn't slaving for the man today, i never would have heard this ridiculous thing that i just heard. we're talking about dvd players, and he asks me, "how can i get rid of those black bars at the top and bottom of my screen when i'm watching a movie?"
i sit and stare at him silently. i'm wondering if he is really serious. and he says
"it's not on every movie, though. just some of them."
i had no response. i don't know which is better. that story or seeing the phrase Blowing things gets results in writing.
