fart machine
dear magnolia,

that was the loudest fart i have ever heard. and i used to live with c. cook! (who can fart on command, btw) it woke us up! your father was so proud.

so at what age do you start teaching kids that it's not okay to just fart and belch and poop themselves in public? i'm curious. cause i figure it's about time her dad learned it, too.

just kidding, of course. he's not like that at all.

most of the time.

fu and squeeks came over the other night for a rocking game of uno! i love uno. i didn't get to play, though, cause the magnolia monster was being a little needy. i think she was just 'fraid of fu cause he started hitting on her the minute he walked in the door. i admit, she's gorgeous, but she's a bit ... short for him. anyhoo, i had a dream about them last night ... it was the proverbial american dream. we were all sitting in the park, squeeks and me sitting on a bench chatting, and jerm and fu, i swear, playing horseshoes, while we all kept an eye on our two kiddos playing on the swings together. go ahead, say it, "ahhhhhhh".

i think i've figured out how to get to lay down and sleep on her own, though. last evening when i laid her down, i covered her up with the little sweater that i'd been wearing that day, so she could smell me and feel more secure, as though i were sleeping with her. she sacked out all alone for three hours! this is an amazing feat! you don't even know! so i ran around the house doing all the things (mostly unpacking) that i've been needing to do but can't do with a wee babe on my hip. and that took about two hours, after which time i was too tired to do any more and just flopped down in the chair. and stared at the baby. wanting to hold her and wondering why i was so interested in getting her to lay down by herself. *sniffsniff*
