i love you guys
this world is full of some crazy shit, ya'll. i love so many things about human nature ... but i really dislike our penchant for complacency. why should it take a very very very frightening, very very very near loss of a loved one to make you realize how much you truly have to lose? you know it, deep in your heart, you know how much you adore and care for your family members and your friends ... but you don't always really feel it at the surface of your skin ... but when you nearly lose someone, you sort of wake up out of that sheer mist and you see your love in stark outline.

but then time passes and the mist forms again until the next tragedy. or near-tragedy, in this case thankyougodorbuddhaorallahorgaiaorwhoeveryouare.

"it's just what the world don't need; it's another stinking tragedy."

did you hear about the skydiving plane that crashed this weekend? my dear nephew was in that plane. he was the one person who parachuted out after the plane started to spin and dive. let me rephrase that. he was the one person who was pushed out of the plane, falling unconscious to the ground, his chute opening automatically and saving his skinny neck. his life saved by the selfless act of another. another who might not make it.

how do you say thank you for something like that?
