bad okie mojo
bad okie mojo

so do you read beecroft? if not, you really should. very humorous. this entry brought up a very very annoying fact about the state i live in, oklahoma. (not that beecroft annoyed me in any way, bee was just an innocent victim like the rest of us.) now, oklahoma has its problems, like any other state ... okay, okay, so maybe it has more than its fair share, but that's really beside the point! because there are a lot of pretty effin cool people living in this state, right in this very city, actually! i mean, i could name like fifty very cool people, forward thinking people, non -racist -sexist -homophobic, etc, all those wonderful, global, socially-liberal things that all intelligent moderns should be. and shit. of course, i fully admit that i also run into more than a little complete and utter ignorance on a regular basis, and therein lies the problem -- that first group of people i told you about? the 'cool' people? those people get no press. i mean seriously, anytime someone from oklahoma shows up on national news (*cringe*) they are bound to

a) be missing several teeth,
b) use either the phrase "yep, i seen the whole thing" or "we ain't got no" something or other,
or c) be wearing a mo' betta shirt.

*shiver*

and then there's a whole other category of injury to add to those insults, which is what beecroft experienced. i mean not every single person living in oklahoma is compelled to preach the gospel to anything that will hold still long enough. not trying to insult religion here, just saying that the last time i saw an okie on nat'l news it was some tiny homely woman with her hair pulled back waaaaaay too tightly saying that "harry potter is nothing but satan worship."

*violent shiver*

crikey!!

so please, i beg of you, just give us a break. "we" are every bit as horrified as you are. oh no, i'm now realizing that i've just added another worry to fu's "why i'm scared to move to oklahoma" list ... aw well, i'm sure he'll be okay. i mean i'm sure he's heard his fair share of "we ain't got none" down where he's from. and honestly, the fact that squeek's house got taken by a tornado should put your mind at ease. i mean, honestly, what are the odds of that happening again?

don't answer that.
