general weekend detail blather
what a weekend. i didn't really spend much time with the wee one this weekend; her granny had her most of the time. friday night was spent preparing for j's baby shower the next day. and of course, the next day was spent at the shower. it was great fun. outside at a lovely park in the gorgeous fall weather. it was even cool enough to light a fire in the pavilion fireplace. it felt like high-school football weather, you know. and j looks adorable with her big round belly. i'm excited for them. they'll soon be entering a whole new world and mag will have someone smaller than her to terrorize. more on that later.

after much recovering on sunday, jerm talked me into going to a show with him in bricktown. The Slackers. i wasn't in love with them from what i heard on the albums - don't get me wrong, i thought they were good, but after seeing them live, holy crap! they were awesome! there weren't a lot of people there, but the enthusiasm of the crowd made up for their lack of numbers. it was a great, high-energy real ska show - none of that ska-punk crap that most "popular" ska bands are cranking out. blech. anyway, check out their stuff*, and if they come to a town near you, do not miss them!

i had such a good time, that i actually stayed awake until after 1am. now that doesn't sound like much to ya'll, but i haven't been up that late in almost two years. so maybe i'm back on the road to being the dotti i once was. my birthday celebration plans require this type of conditioning. *sinister grin*

so how could monday top the rest of the weekend? well a) it was monday and i wasn't at work, so that's a damned good start, and b) my MIL took me shopping for my birthday. yes, it's a tad early, but i wasn't about to complain. i was too busy picking out a gorgeous new fall wardrobe. now if the weather would just cooperate and get cold enough for me to wear a sweater ... at least the leaves are changing and getting all orangey-yellowy-reddish. ahhhh, how i love fall. i'm so glad my daughter has a fall birthday. i've always loved the time of year of my/her bday. it comes close enough to christmas that everyone's getting in the holiday spirit, but not so close that the only colors you see are red and green.

alright, i've slacked enough today, must put nose to grindstone!

*p.s. i recommend Better Late Than Never
